WHOLE LIFE EXPO LOS ANGELES, CA, USA <br /><br />Lecture <br />by <br />Anders Johansson, Ph.D.<br /><br /> <br /><br />The stars have been there since creation was probably formed, but unless there is somebody to interpret the stars; unless there is somebody to plan the pattern and describe the pattern of the stars, we don't really know the influence, the meaning of it. <br /><br />In Hindu astrology, there is a certain number of philosophers that are said to - like Rama, Krishna , Buddha and Hermes - have major influence. These are so-called major initiators of world religions. Hermes started the Egyptian religion. Buddha started, of course, the Buddhistic philosophy. We have Orpheus in Greece, who came in the Greek epoch to give major input on Greek philosophy. If we go further back in history, we have Rawa as a major starting point for a new kind of worship of the sun. We can go into Egypt and study Ikaton, the Sun worship. <br /><br />If you go further back in history, you come to Atlantis by plato and socratesand by thot-hermes mercury trimergistus.. When you come to Atlantis, you come to a controversial fact in recorded history divine order since it extraterstrialand of a divand in academic quarters of today's culture.<br /><br />Edgar Cayce was one of the few who has proven in his readings that people do actually reappear in time and space, because he could name personifications from our recorded history and then go further back into the past and then also bring out some of the future characteristics, which from 1900 up to 1940 have been predicted and then been verified by our observations. Those of us who know who Edgar Cayce is and what A.R.E. is, or the Association for Research and Enlightenment, based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, know that Edgar Cayce did 14,000 life readings. 2,500 of them had to do with reincarnation, psychological evaluations of patterns pertaining to mind, body and soul distinctly different, where each individual would be evaluated as far as an individual with a psychological determined pattern on the physical plane or the emotional, the mental or the spiritual plane. <br /><br />Edgar Cayce named a few interesting reincarnation cases. He named, for instance, Jean-paul Moliere, the French author as one of those who reincarnated back into the American culture in the 1930s to now express more of what he missed in that French incarnation as a writer during the French Revolution when times were quite difficult to be a successtul person and then have success with the changes of the regime that we experienced in France in those days. <br /><br />Further on, he also mentioned Chopin. He mentioned the family that Chopin would reincarnate in and also the evolution of that soul and how it again would bring up musical talents and bring forth these musical talents again in this culture and be an excellent pianist. We have also seen that quality in that incarnation. <br /><br />If a person has an ability to see with the heip of astrology, which is another form of psychology, you can go into a book written by one of the members of A.R.E., which is the Edgar Cayce Foundation, a non-profit organization. In that pattern, you will note an interesting function. You will see that the Sun, Moon and the rising sign - and now I am going to be somewhat technical and somewhat detailed and I do not mid if you stop me during my lecture, to interrupt and ask for more clarifications, because that's fine. It will just mean that we get more understanding on what we are talking about. <br /><br />The technical functions of Hindi astrology, as well as Western astrology, is that we move progressively. You can read Alice Bailey's book 'The Labors of Hercules" and you can ponder upon the purpose of an incarnation, to be an Aries, Sun, Moon or rising sign. You can learn about the purpose of having an incarnation like a Taurus, a Gemini, a Cancer, a Leo, and so forth. When we talk about those purposes, we don't just talk about mundane, earthly satisfactory results for our body and our mind that we can see in the outside world. We also talk about being a temple. Our inside, our spiritual domain, because the spiritual domain is the determining factors for our wake-up in our next life. The progressions move successively forward. Rising sign in Cancer in one life, you take your Moon in cancer in the next incarnation, because your rising sign is your body, your appearance. Each one of you probably has a different zodiacal sign here.<br /><br />If I may venture into your chart - if we had one - then we would find an Aires rising, a Taurus rising, and a Gemini rising and so forth, because I can see that on your body structure. By body appearance, you read the character, the rising sign. But the Moon, the temperament, the personality is in your emotional world. That's how you saturate this domain, this body, that we are wearing, or carrying with us. Your sign cycle, the Sun sign that we are SO fascinated with in the western world, is what we project outside, is what we share with others, is what we have in common, what we have in practical life as a common dominator. The sun sign is not a distinguishing point, because I can bring up a hundred thousand people who are born on the same day as you are, within a few hours difference around the world and they'll all look different, they'll all appear differently, they'll all have different destinies, they'll all manifest in different matters. In the Western world, there are two factors which have grown to a new dimension. One of them is in computer science and one of them is sidereal, Hindu astrology, and in the last years, if you look in the business world of astrology, you will find that the business of astrology has doubled, not only because we have had good predictions done by astrologers about Earthquakes, followed by interpretations on Nostradamus, who has put down the major points of karmic return for us on the planet, where he has mentioned certain cycles; that the Babylonians knew as 9 cycies. He has mentioned those dates into the future where we will have certain conjunctions where man on Earth will learn that karma does return to each one in measure exactly in relationship to our own actions and reactions in past lives. <br /><br />Not to go beyond the scope of the first introduction subject here, I'd like to say a few words about Edgar Cayce and his record reading ability. As you know, if you have studied his books, the most profound ones are probably "There is a River" and a second one, "Astrology". In "Astrology", he says "the science you know today on Earth..." - this is not a reading from his consciousness above his body, he makes a distinction when he says "when I'm in higher consciousness, I'm leaving my body and it's like going through a black point in time and space and it becomes a star, and I go beyond a certain space, a void." It's probably the same as a yogi would describe his disassociation from a physical body or Hermes or any of the old initiates in Egypt, and so forth, how they left the physical body and how, he says, "I go beyond a certain point in the starry heavens where there are no manifestations like we see them on Earth". And he says exactly the same thing as Hindu astrologists say, that the Sun-Moon-Mars relationship, that we see in the physical material Universe, do not have the same impression inside in the astral Universe. There's a different order of the manifestation of the planet inside in the spiritual world compared to the physical world. Due to the effect that inside ourselves, in our astral, mental and spiritual bodies, are the origin, the real world, while we on the outside reflect a different form. The outside world is a reflection, like the body is a reflection of emotion and indeed is a reflection of spirit, so the material world is only a reflectlon. Like the beam of the Sun - when it falls on water - it loses part of its essence, the heat. When that beam is mirrored up from a tap of water, for instance, or from a pond on a wall, it also loses its form, its contour. Right? The same way this material has lost the origin, the essence of that vibration of light in combination of sound, which you can see in the emotional body, where in the internal body you can see as patterns and as an astrologer, you see that when you discuss the different charts. <br /><br />In a Hindu life reading, we do sixteen charts: past life, present life, karmas with parents, children, profession, status, and so forth. All these patterns are made up in a past life. They are reflected from our bodies into our family, into our parents. You can see your emotions in your mother. You can see your professional career in your father patterns. These are reflections till the day we transcend our limitations. Those we have self-imposed from past lives, but there are changes that we are going through, whether we experience them physically, emotionally or mentally, we call them astrology cycles. These cycles are like certain patterns and they are the same for everyone. There is a typical static pattern that everybody follows. We all follow certain lengths of cycles, but we are all born with different Moon signs. We are all born with the Moon in different degrees of each sign and that makes our experience different because our cycles do not interchange. But those we have in our close environment, like family, friends and so forth, they definitely give you the experience of those cyclic changes. You change cycles and you find you change your work, your profession, your career, your country, whatever is in the cyclic change that is brought about in your outside world in the environment. <br /><br />I'm going to give a few basic samples of these and I'm going to give you some practical investigations on Hindu astrology, karma, reincarnation patterns, that have been typical over the past years in Hindu astrology, that have been able to verify what has been discussed by Hindu astrologers. <br /><br />First of all, Hindu astrology does not use one zodiac. It uses sixteen subdivisions of the zodiac. In Hindu astrology, we have not one birth chart, but we have sixteen and, of course, during the calculations for one chart, if you are involved in mathemathics and have done some astronomy, you know that it takes a few hours to calculate one horoscope. If you do two it will take you a few hours. If you do sixteen, of course, there could be quite a number of them. <br /><br />The first chart that we discuss in Hindu astrology is the so­called birth chart. That's what you're born with. That's your basic photographic pattern. That's your negative, which is then processed in those so-called prints. <br /><br />First of all comes the chart called "brothers and sisters". You can discuss it from the third house. The third house means family, brothers and sisters in the natal chart. But you can magnify this like in a microscope and you can go in and discuss during the cycles of your life. Let's say you are born with the Moon in a Saturn star, you're meant to go through nineteen years of Saturn's experlence. Well, where is Saturn in your birth chart? And where is it in the chart for brothers and sisters? So, from your horoscope we can see whether you have brothers and sisters. We can also discuss their status, their development, their evolution. <br /><br />The next chart is another subdivision of the zodiac. It's called hora -economy chart or it deals with fortune, income, finances. In other words, the dust of our fingers, our labors, the sweat that we work with in our life so we can turn assets into further investments in life. Finance and economy come from the position of your Sun and your Moon and it bases itself on a certain subdivision . We divide the sign and we get a rising sign, the regular Sun, Moon and all the planets. But in here, during your Saturn, if you have an exalted Saturn, of course, it brings about an easy income and it brings about a simple method of payments to pay one's dues, but usually if we have a Saturn cycle going, most people think of it as a negative cycle. But in Hindu astrology, Saturn is not necessarily altogether negative. <br /><br /><br />What I'll do is to discuss the technical things for people who have that kind of interest later on. The programming of a computer program like this takes three years. The nakshatra -subchart of it takes like 8-10 weeks to get into to satisfy one's intellectual understanding of it and make, should we say, a statistical research background for an evaluation, so it becomes evident that there is some ground for our investigation. When we do these subdivisions, let's say study 100 cases of people, you take well-known people and you do their study, you do their life chart, you print-out the major cycles they go through. You understand why somebody overnight becomes famous. You see why somebody loses his head overnight, like Ludwig XIV in France, for instance, in 1796. You can go back to other revolutions. You can watch kings, where you know their time, because time is usually recorded in royal households and that's why it's simple to do charts of well-known personalities, which is a typical study of astrology, that's where we gather our data in the course of history and time. <br /><br />Everybody who goes through his life is, of course, at one point or later interested in family and family matters. Are there going to be children? And are there going to be any simple lines of developing this attachment to wife and then charging oneself with the responsibility of a family and carrying out this responsibility. In India, the child at birth is usually within a few hours presented to the astrologer who reads the face, who reads the palm, who makes an assessment of the karmas or the values, puts up the general plan, that means date of marriage, the amount of money that's going to be involved that the husband has to come up with: household furniture; amenities; if it's going to be farm; if it's going to be city birth; city marriage; if there's going to be a professional involved, for instance travel; is there going to be more than one kind of house needed for this person; and so forth. All this is accessed at the time of birth or within a few hours. And that was practiced until the British came to India a hundred years ago. <br /><br />Generally, within the few hundred million people of the environment. when you say that you are born with the Moon in, let's say Cancer in India, the mothers would immediately say "I have a practical case, because I happen to have a Hindu man as my neighbor and he's the first son after three girlis and his mother's statement was 'You'll be good for nothing; you'll have to be in business by yourself because you'll never be able to be employed and follow others' direction" and until this day, and this is for sure, his wife is a bank manager and he himself does one kind of a small business after the other and they all roll out through the window, but she sits and controls the money and the bank and that's how it's working. So I mean it's very simple to see these things. <br /><br />Yes. I'll come to that. That's my next chart. 5th subdivision - panchamsa<br /><br />So, family matters, children, offspring. There's a very fine point in Hindu astrology, where we discuss children. When you have a man and wife in a family situation, you will always find that if the marriage lagts for flora than ten years, there is one planet they have in common both of them, which is within thirty minutes of an arc. That means less than half a degree and that planet has to be a benefic planet, it has to be like Venus, Jupiter, the Moon, or Mercury. It has to be in a good house like 1, 4, 7 or 10. Your first, your personality; your fourth, your home; your seventh, your marriage, your partnership; or the tenth, your status; or possibly the 11 th house, which is the length of marriage, because the fourth is the fifth from the seventh and it's also the twelfth to the twelfth and that means longevity, because the twelfth also determines how long we are going to live.<br /><br />So in the chart for children, because of the cycle. Let 's say a person started a 19-year cycle of Saturn. He will go into Mercury when he is done after nineteen years of sort of like being either thumb-screwed or really messed up during Saturn or he has an ability for discipline, putting his system together, learning his patterns and his life's mission, and so when Mercury starts for seventeen years, Mercury will then indicate whether or not 1, 2 or 3 children are born. Now we don't only go through one cycle. We have subcycles and sub-subcycles. Like all of us, in each of our lives, can always see a certain pattern. We have patterns which we go through. We have certain basic circumstances, not in the solar year that every month, let's say, for instance, once we know that now I have my bills to pay, the Moon, opposite Moon, in the natal chart or when the Moon comes to the 5th house, we find ourselves involved in enjoyment and relaxation, or we find that once in the solar year, in the tropical year, that, for instance, during the 7th house aspect, when the Sun travels to the 7th house, we find ourselves involved in partnerships and strained circumstances with our friends and associates. <br /><br />No, within Hindu astrology, we also go to further subdivisions. We subdivide the major cycle into nine subcycles and then again subdivided it into smaller cydes. That's to satisfy that there are three principles in our bodies, three modes: Sun, Moon and the rising sign. The Sun sign is individuality and our profession. The Moon, our personality and our emotions.<br /> And the rising sign, our body and our appearance. Because each day, as this Earth rotates around its axis, we experience 24 hours and in that 24-hour segment, we make one turn in our circle, in our zodiac. In each one of us, every other hour has a new experience because of this rising sign changing in the eastern horizon. Each one of us, if we were observant and if we had a calculator and a log book at hand could make recorded notes and experience certain patterns that would be repeating themselves in cyclic procession. Everything is in time and space exact. In Hindu philosophy, there is no such thing as chance. when we go through the experiences of combinations of certain houses, we also experience those major patterns that makes the influence of life substantial and that makes it worthy of, you know, a living towards fulfillment. When we look, for instance, in the 9th subdivision, the 9th harmonic, as soma English astrologist prefers to call it, this square system that I'm using is also nothing new. For instance, Edward Lilley, a French astrologist in the 15th century, used squares which he took from the Phoenicians into England , which was also the basis from Raphael astrological books and astrology <br /><br />They also used the squares to begin with, because it has a certain basic geometry pattern. It follows much of Pythagoras and his systems of applied geometry. Because in the middle here, you'll find houses 1, 4, 7 and 10. In the center, they are your houses of gain. The first house, your head. Fourth house, your chest. Seventh house, are middle line of the body and the tenth house, our status. Those are our so-called angular houses, our gain houses where we are in command. That's our fortune houses. 3, 6, 8 and 12 are our losses.? Third is Gemini usually.<br /><br /> That's where we give with our body, our arms. Sixth is where the food is turned around in our stomach in the waist, that's Virgo. And the eighth is where we eliminate, where we have things leaving our body, that's Scorpio. And the twelfth is Pisces that's where we loose energy when we walk. Those are the loss houses to our body. <br /><br />Gains to others. They are called the dependable karmic houses, the houses where you give. And so the organs of the body and the houses of the body are related. Now I can, of course, go in and be very specific but I'm giving you a general override so you'll see certain points, and in some of the books that I've written, these things are well defined and explained and, of course, there is this whole astrological interpretation cycle. It gives you a basic philosophy, understanding and also explains how to interpret all these so called subcharts in the Hindu vedic reading. <br /><br /> <br /><br />The Navamsh chart, or the navamsha? or the 9th harmonic, as some modern astrologists call it. The 9th subdivision is what we call the navamsha?. That's the sign and house that shows your Moon from a past life and the accomplishments of your past life. Like from the third subdivision, we can see what regions you reincarnate from. What level of soul consciousness you have brought with you.<br /><br />The Sun and the Moon and the Deacons in the chart describe what planetary system you, as a soul, come from. It explains also what kind of incarnation form you had in a past life: human, animal, mineral, vegetable, angelic, archangelic or even further up,the elohim as the Venus sphere is called. W e are now talking about the navamsha? The navamsha? shows the immediate past life. I have two other subcharts in here that show the pattern of all your past lives as B.V. Raman? explains it.<br /><br />B.V. Raman is an astrologer who has been running a newspaper ln India for 75 years. It's called The Astrological Magazine. I think we might have some in our desk or in our booth, No. 151, where you can study these astrological studies that are going on right now in India . B.V. Raman says that the ,division of l2th of a sign. A sign is 30 degrees. Divided 120 times you come down to a fine, minute microscopic part in the zodiac, where you can study the soul's incarnation and you get a bird's eye view of this life among all the lives but, of course, without the depth of your own pond. How can you look into something like that? One has to have a deep pond to throw one's rock in, to find out one's past lives. This is nothing for the mind of an ordinary mortal, of course.<br /><br /> This has to be with spiritual development. We have to develop our senses and our mind in yoga for such practices, but it is altogether possible for every living human being. Is it limited or exclusive, sort of locked out from that potential? No. <br /><br />Then navamsha?. The 9th harmonic shows husband and wife relationship. Of course, we know being involved with New Age affairs, metaphysical affairs, that we have a counterpart to our physical body, the etheric body, the lower vibration of our astral emotional body. I happen to have a male physical frame, so my emotional frame, the etheric body, is a female. All you ladies have a female physical form, so you have a male etheric form.<br /><br /> That's the reason why we need to marry in life because we are trying to find a counterpart. Where in America, there's a race going on, I think, to try to find more than one because you find too many divorces ln each marriage, or we don't really look deep enough to find that counterpart, because it's also within us. It's a reflection on the outside, but the real essence is within us. <br /><br />Anyway, the navamsha, the harmonic, the 9th one, describes the amount of marriages, when they will take place and the partner's personality, intelligence, livelihood, professional status, career and also if, for instance, one of these planets that you then are going through as an individual at a certain point in time and space, when you meet your marriage partner, if that planet happens to be in the 9th or the l2th house, connected to a node; a node is one of these forces in nature that causes eclipses. <br /><br /> There are two points in the zodiac that causes eclipses. The north and the south nodes of the Moon. Whenever you have any major experience during your full Moon or a new Moon with an eclipse involved, you always find unusual, particular character descriptions coming out in those beings that are born nine months later after a full Moon or a new Moon. Usually in India, people do not have intercourse because of the vicious energies of the north and the south nodes of human beings. Mostly we see it as influences which cause earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, upheavals, because the electromagnetic strata from the Sun that is poured in on the Earth is being shielded. We could call it the umbrella effect. <br /><br />That's the most simple form of explaining what is going on. It's like an umbrella put in the astral world over the Earth which shields and protects the Earth, in a negative manner mostly, when we talked about solar eclipses, because the pressure and the heat and the physical functions of the planet are changed and so the elements and the combinations of the elements change and that's why children born within a degree or two of a full Moon or a new Moon within an eclipse, are usually born with defects in the limbs, the physical body, the emotional body or the mental make up, most of the time, and this is not a funny subject, but it is an excruciating negative subject in a certain sense, but it proves what these eclipses are. <br /><br />Most people that are born within other people's bodies, which is a strange subject that I think most of you have not heard about. I spent fifteen years working in mental hospitals and other kinds of hospitals, so I Iearned a little a bit about a special kind of surgery that goes on behind locked doors where you see people being removed, not just Siamese twins, but real connections where one lives within, let's say, an organ, the stomach of another person. I've seen such operations and I've seen them also taking place astrologically on cycles that pertain to full or new Moon cycles, which are extremely unusual. <br /><br />Never was I able to discuss this with the doctors but I still was able to observe the fact of the removal of one organ or the body from another, which also proves the fact that the eclipses play a very prominent part in our lives. That's why the Hindus stand in rivers, ponds and lakes upon eclipses and pray their prayer, whatever, and are directed to what they call bahagawan , the divine presence of God on the Earth. So that's how they perceive of the eclipses. <br />// <br />Yes. The north node relates to your way of solving your karmas, your accounts. Let's go the other way. Why don't we go into the south node, because the south node shows what bills we haven't paid from a past life. It shows what accounts we haven't taken care of, whether it's American Express, Visa or a Master Card. But we left those accounts in our past lives. We didn't completely pay the bill. The cycle is hanging over. We have interest in this life and we have to take care of it. If you have a planet conjunct a node, you know you've got some major issue to point your finger at in this life because that's also, of course, reflected since it's opposite your north node and where the north node is in your chart, that's how you perceive the best way of solving your situation with either groups of people, organizations or if it's your individual experiment to go through in life, to solve these karmic circumstances. But the north node shows how you pay your dues.<br /><br /> How you solve it and how you fulfill the so called dharma. Dharma means fulfilling your life's major mission, your purpose, as we are all seeking here in life totally dependent karma, while the north node is inter-dependent. It's related to other people. That's shown by the navamsha? It's also shown by that shows our parents, our father and our mother, our Sun and our Moon, our 4th and our 9 th house, or sometimes in India called the 4th house the mother and the 9th house the father, because the 9th house reflects our past lives' professional accounts, professional abilities. The 4th house shows our domestic abilities, taking care of a family and the responsibilities. <br /><br /><br /><br />Rahu the dragons head - the moons north node ?, the north node, the dragon' 5 head. Ketu ?. Kaput draconis ? is the south node. Katu.? yin- yang, and Tao?, the middle current is then the soul. The caducues ? describes the same thing. The Pingala? and the ida­force?> , yang, it's the same thing. Left, right, and the center current. <br /><br />In the chart, of course, there is, in the navamshhas many exponents that we cannot perceive of in the birth chart, but they are explained from the navamsha - qualities, talents. A misapplied planet in the birth chart, let's say a fallen Saturn in Aries, totally negative to most astrologers or let's say a Mars in Cancer, and I'm not going to go into houses, I'm just going to say signs. Fallen planets are overruled by the navamsha. If that chart has a stronger planet than the birth chart, it cancels out the affects of the birth chart. <br /><br />That means you can totally disregard the birth chart in most cases and throw it into the trash can, because that's where it ends up. The birth chart doesn't carry all of your patterns. It's just a summation. Neither of you could say that when you eat a cake or a cookie, you experience all the parts in the ingredients, but when you break them apart in a chemical separation, in a distillation, you would find each individual salt molecule, and that would be a better verification of the components. So it is in our chart, the birth chart, There are many components in the subcharts which make up a much better arrangement than the birth chart. <br /><br />In this series of charts here, a chart on professions, status, that's where you fit it. of course, you can see it from the l0th house and the Lord of the l0th house, where he is placed in the birth chart, what time in life your most qualified talents come together, to be expressed in a profession, a status and so forth. <br /><br />In the next chart, I discussed a little bit about it, it was dwadasamsa ?, the past life> reincarnation, the reasons why we had to take birth in a family with father and mother principles. <br /><br />The next oneis the subchart nr 5 th sub- chart> some of us would call it. It is the material chart. It's the chart for vehicles, land, property, estates, personal belongings, cars, bicycles, all our material ambitions. What's your karmically due in this life cannot be taken away from you.<br /><br /> Neither will you get more than what's karmic in store, whether it will happen by chance, by God's Grace, by faith, by destiny or by misfortune. Everything is lined up directly as is written. God is not unjust, neither is He unscientific, so to speak. Everything is on time and everything in space. In India , they say there are no ways that we are unjustly given in this life, in a wrong manner, direction, circumstances, origin or future. <br /><br />All of us come together in this life and we have written on the Tablets of Life all the actions and they have been transcribed into patterns that make up our personality, our country, our business, our profession, our goals, our desires and our subjects in life. <br /><br />In the Hindu chart, we see everything written as on ether, on Akash, on the throat chakra. Those of us who practice yoga and who know what yoga is all about, after 10, 15, 20 years, you start to realize that we have, and I have, a lot to do in life, when you start to realize you've done yoga for 20 years, for instance, you realize that there is a lot left to do. As in every occupation, you become proficient in something and you realize you know nothing. You realize how much more there is to learn. And so it is with astrology. <br /><br />We start to touch upon this chart. Well, this is one life reading done at the time of birth of a child. We can do one of these life readings as a solar return for each year and there's work and work and work in these charts for logic analysis, for discrimination and assessing values. A computer makes it very convenient. In India, an astrologer usually has 10-15 students -neophytes sitting down their room or aisle and doing all the calculations for them and the Master sits up on his dias and does all the delineations-interpretations .. Well, that's not the case here. Here we all work so, of course, we use a computer instead. It's a short-out, but it works. <br /><br />We have charts for accomplishments of divine values and philosophy-metaphysics or inaditation, religion and faith in God. When you study Saints, holy men, you find, of course, that their chart is very strong. They have exaltations of both Saturn or the Sun. Doesn't matter. Either one of them will aid them in their development of faith, religion and metaphysical experiences. <br /><br />The next chart, Sidhamsa it talks about our achievements and education and in science. The ability to practice knowledge that is not experienced and practiced is worth nothing. An ounce of practice is better than a ton of knowledge. Actions speak louder than words. Old idioms that we have heard from times immemorial, but here they are expressed<br />These charts speak very clearly. You can study sidharta?, Gautama?, the Buddha, you can study Mahatma Ghandhi and you can study any of the sages who have an indication of time in their birth chart, and you'll find that their charts clearly describe when they are supposed to take their soul out of this world, to give up the world, to renounce the world, or to make the major influences in the world. In society we have strength and weaknesses in our personalities, but they can be remedied. <br /><br />In India, gems, crystals, herbs, mantras, music, rhythms of singing, counteract negative mental patterns. The Indian's first idiom on sciences that nothing is ever in the body; neither sickness nor life. It all starts in the mind. Soul pours into mind and mind comes to body, a practical experience for us in the material world. So everything is in the mind. Therefore, everything that is applied to the mind heals the whole of the person. First, and foremost, the mind, because the mind is the designer, the architect and it's also the maker of the material world. Saturn in another form. <br /><br />We go through charts -horoscopes-talking about good and bad habits, plous and sinful nature of mind the . They all just describe our patterns of our past lives. But, of course, they make a strong influence when you compare a couple for marriage or a person for an employment or if a person is fitting for a certain type of a chart, let's say a subject in life. Make any choice, you can find the answer within the subcharts in a very simple manner. <br /><br />Last of all comes a number of pages that deal with your time cycles. They are just numbers. We can print up to thirty pages of time cycles. 729 of them. 9 major times 9 sub is 81 times another 9 is 729. <br /><br />These subcycles are constantly rolling with such breath throughout your day, and these cycles keep on rolling and each one of us has a major number of breaths that we are going to take, not only in our day but also in our life and they are the cycles. In India, there is a saying that "before time was breath". In other words, the breath of the Creator, His exhaustion of His energy into this material world. The trinity in India is called and vishnu and brahma and Shiva, and when shiva and vishanu were in the bosom of the Father, it is said that B rahma . <br /><br /> ln the dawn of creation gave breath to the creation and then to mind and then to the material world. And that's why we say that time comes second after the breath of the creator. So in time and space, we have these numbers which reflect the perfect harmony within each individual and the cycles of life, which can be expressed when we do these life readings. <br /><br />In India , there is a special so-called institutenadi of maharishi brighu that does all these readings, but you don't have to express your name, date of birth, place of birth, the time of birth. It's called the the akashic record reading library-brighu nandi nadi.<br /><br /> They exist in Hoshiarpur and Bomnbay, Delhi , Merut, Varanasi and i have been to every one of them for 32 years .since 1975 . <br /><br />I have had the privilege to take hundreds Americans as guests to these institutes over there in the past few years and to show them without any kind of connection between me and the institute until the day of arrival, that upon their arrival, their name, their profession, their background, their parents, their children, their involvement in society, could be described and the number of past lives. These records are old records or so- called Akashic Records dating back to the Atlantis. And in my book, "The Astrology Manual" and in the other instruction book for the Hindu Vedic life reading, there is a simple article and I'll be glad to pass this one out here or afterwards in booth 151, where we have a little exhibit downstairs and you can read this artide, it's for free, and it talks about Brighu nadi readings or the world's oldest astrological record found in India by Professor Jörgens Meyer in Berkeley and one of his students who did his Ph.D. on astrology, metaphysics and religion. <br /><br />Hindu astrology has four forms of applicationin the book of the vedas : mundane, political electional?1 horrorary? and spiritual astrology. Everybody follows like the train a railroad and the track down the road until one day one makes up one' 5 own mind to take responsibility for one's actions. You start to negate influences of houses, the signs of the zodiac at one point when you lift your consciousness, when you stop killing for a living, when you don't go out to kill animals, human forms, any form in life for your living.<br /><br /> The day you start to practice metaphysical experiences in your life, you go through yoga or other religious experiences, you counteract the planets. At one time, when your consciousness dawns and descends upon the heart or the throat, you cancel the whole human incarnation. That's why people can die and come back to birth, because they have a continuation of their past life karma and they then, at that time, practice their Moon, which in a past life described their physical body, the rising sign, because the ascendant in this life is a direct manifestation of your Moon in a past life. Like your Moon is progressed, so is your ascendant progressed<br /><br />When you practice yoga, at a point, you will come to the eye center and that's where neither the planets nor the signs or houses have influence, only the quarter Moons and the full Moon and the new Moon. But then, you are in agreement with a different breed of creatures in the solar system that live on a different level of consciousness, but they are the supporters of mankind.<br /><br /> <br /><br />You would also delineate. You would find that by look in the chart for metaphysical evaluations, you would look in the 9th subdivision, .navamsha chart.<br /><br /> this soul is going to rise beyond its karma, like a yogananda, like a Christ, a Buddha. You will see that a spirit will ascend beyond time and space but you will also see the obstacles that time and space will produce for you, like around Christ in his time or around Buddha or around any spiritual Master, but that can be interpreted. The most important thing, I think, in this substance, if I may say so, I'll just spend two minutes on the subject - is that when Buddha was born, Gautama Siddhartha Buddha, there were sixteen astrologers at the king's palace. <br /><br />He was born a prince. There were fifteen of them who said that he would either renounce the world or he would be a total spiritual realized yogi. Only one of them stayed for sixteen years to see this process in Buddha, the day he got out into the world when he was let out of the castle, when he was on his own and he saw all the miseries, poverty and all the problems that were engulfed in the world, he also renounced the world at that day, giving up his family and his ability to take the throne and so forth. And that was also in his palm. He had 28 signs of recognition in his chart, as well as in his palm and in his foot. <br /><br />In Hindu astrology, this is a major teaching credential. This is where you learn your astrology from, when you look in a palm. If you go in India and show a palm to somebody, they might tell you down the road exactly what's going to come up. And so people very quickly pull back their hand, when they shake hands with you in the Orient. A misapplied planet in the birth chart, let's say a fallen Saturn in Aries, totally negative to most astrologers or let's say a Mars in Cancer, and I'm not going to go into houses, I'm just going to say signs. Fallen planets are overruled by the navamsha. If that chart has a stronger planet than the birth chart, it cancels out the affects of the birth chart. In India , they say there are no ways that we are unjustly given in this life, in a wrong manner, direction, circumstances, origin or future. <br /><br />All of us come together in this life and we have written on the Tablets of Life all the actions and they have been transcribed into patterns that make up our personality, our country, our business, our profession, our goals, our desires and our subjects in life. <br /><br />In the Hindu chart, we see everything written as on ether, on Akash, on the throat chakra. Those of us who practice yoga and who know what yoga is all about, after 10, 15, 20 years, you start to realize that we have, and I have, a lot to do in life, when you start to realize you've done yoga for 20 years, for instance, you realize that there is a lot left to do. As in every occupation, you become proficient in something and you realize you know nothing. You realize how much more there is to learn. And so it is with astrology. We start to touch upon this chart.<br /><br /> Well, this is one life reading done at the time of birth of a child. We can do one of these life readings as a solar return for each year and there's work and work and work in these charts for logic analysis, for discrimination and assessing values. A computer makes it very convenient. In India, an astrologer usually has 10-15 neophytes sitting down their aisle and doing all the calculations for them and the Master sits up on his dias and does all the delineations. Old idioms that we have heard from times irumemorial, but here they are expressed. These charts speak very clearly. You can study Asidharta?, Gautama?, Buddha, you can study Mahatma Ghandhi and you can study any of the sages who have an indication of time in their birth chart, and you'll find that their charts clearly describe when they are supposed to take their initiation, to give up the world, to renounce the world, or to make the major influences in the world. In society we have strength and weaknesses in our personalities, but they can be remedied. <br /><br />In India, gems, crystals, herbs, mantras, music, rhythms of singing, counteract negative mental patterns. The Indian's first idiom on sciences that nothing is ever in the body; neither sickness nor life. It all starts in the mind. Soul pours into mind and mind comes to body, a practical experience for us in the material world. So everything is in the mind. Therefore, everything that is applied to the mind heals the whole of the person. First, and foremost, the mind, because the mind is the designer, the architect and it's also the maker of the material world. Saturn in another form. <br /><br />We go through charts talking about good and bad habits, plous and sinful nature. They all just describe our patterns of our past lives. But, of course, they make a strong influence when you compare a couple for marriage or a person for an employment or if a person is fitting for a certain type of a chart, let's say a subject in life. Make any choice, you can find the answer within the subcharts in a very simple manner. <br /><br />Last of all comes a number of pages that deal with your time cycles. They are just numbers. We can print up to thirty pages of time cycles. 729 of them. 9 major times 9 sub is 81 times another 9 is 729. These subcycles are constantly rolling with such breath throughout your day, and these cycles keep on rolling and each one of us has a major number of breaths that we are going to take, not only in our day but also in our life and they are the cycles. In India, there is a saying that "before time was breath". In other words, the breath of the Creator, His exhaustion of His energy into this material world. The trinity in India is called fl and vishna? and Shiva, and when shiva and vishana were in the bosom of the Father, it is said that B ln the dawn of creation gave breath to the creation and then to mind and then to the material world. And that's why we say that time comes second after the breath of the Greator. So in time and space, we have these numbers which reflect the perfect harmony within each individual and the cycles of life, which can be expressed when we do these life readings. <br /><br />In India , there is a special so-called institute that does all these readings, but you don't have to express your name, date of birth, place of birth, the time of birth. It's called the brighu nandi nadi centers.<br /><br /> They exist in Boinbay, Delhi , Murud, Varanasi and hoshiarpur punjab<br /><br />and . I have had the privilege to take seven Americans over there in the past few years and to show them without any kind of connection between me and the institute until the day of arrival, that upon their arrival, their name, their profession, their background, their parents, their children, their involvement in society, could be described and the number of past lives. <br /><br />These records are old records or so- called Akashic Records dating back to the Atlantis. The day you start to practice metaphysical experiences in your life, you go through yoga or other religious experiences, you counteract the planets. At one time, when your consciousness dawns and descends upon the heart or the throat, you cancel the whole human incarnation. <br /><br />That's why people can die and come back to birth, because they have a continuation of their past life karma and they then, at that time, practice their Moon, which in a past life described their physical body, the rising sign, because the ascendant in this life is a direct manifestation of your Moon in a past life. Like your Moon is progressed, so is your ascendant progressed.<br /><br /> When you practice yoga, at a point, you will come to the eye center and that's where neither the planets nor the signs or houses have influence, only the quarter Moons and the full Moon and the new Moon. He was born a prince. There were fifteen of them who said that he would either renounce the world or he would be a total spiritual realized yogi. Only one of them stayed for sixteen years to see this process in Buddha, the day he got out into the world when he was let out of the castle, when he was on his own and he saw all the miseries, poverty and all the problems that were engulfed in the world, he also renounced the world at that day, giving up his family and his ability to take the throne and so forth. And that was also in his palm.<br /><br /> He had 28 signs of recognition in his chart, as well as in his palm and in his foot. In Hindu astrology, this is a major teaching credential. This is where you learn your astrology from, when you look in a palm. If you go in India and show a palm to somebody, they might tell you down the road exactly what's going to come up. And so people very quickly pull back their hand, when they shake hands with you in the Orient. Följaktligen visas vi genom stjärnporten av vårt medvetna sinne de Gudomliga sermonierna av heliga invigningar, dessa initieringar involverar mänskligheten och jorden och de reflekterar vår kollektiva utveckling in i högre stadier av medvetande. De reflekterar vår utveckling och vår tillväxt som människor och som planet. De reflekterar också gryningen på den nya kosmiska dagen. Filtrera ut varje spår av mänskligt medvetande och absorbera endast det som harmonierar med sanningen i ditt hjärta. När de första Gudomligt rena själarna landsteg på jorden efter rymdfärden och nedsteg i den fysiska formen så var det alltså de första mänskliga formerna som nedsteg i den fysiska värden av form blev de eskorterade av den perfekte lorden Ärkeängeln Mikael. När all var förberett och den älskade moderjord hade utsmyckat sin klädnad och skrud av härlighet så fyllde elementar substanserna den energi som skulle underhålla mänskligheten, och planeten var redo för nedstigningen av de heliga ljusbärarna. Framför ögonen av den himmelska hiearkin och från den tyste väktaren från solar bortom solar öppnade sig himmelns portar. Där i kunglig pompa stod ljusnärvaron av ärkeängeln Mikael han som bar kronan av odödlighet känd i ljuset från central solen kom han till jorden för att skydda barnen genom årtusenden av liv i reinkarnationshjulet som dessa själar skulle erfara i framtiden. Moderjord började sjunga sin kosmiska sång. Änglakörerna sjöng sina välsignelser för kommandet av Herren och hans närvaro som skulle skydda utvecklingen. Devorna, Elohimen och byggarna av form förenade i den spirituella övertonssången och systerplaneterna i vårt solsystem utvidgade tonerna i den himmelska sången. Ärkeängeln Mikael i sin högsta potens av Gudomligt tjänande av Fader Moder Gud kom för att försäkra varje son och dotter av Gud en säker retur. Varje Ängel och elementar skulle på samma sätt uppleva stängandet av en kosmisk dag att detta bara var en ny begynnelse på en ny kosmisk dag. Trumpeten ljöd och Ärkeängeln Mikael började den nedåtgående svepande processionen mot jorden utmed den blå eldsstrålen som var förankrad i jorden i närheten av den norra delen av bergsregionen vi kallar klippiga bergen på den nord amerikanska kontinenten. Efter honom följde manu av den första rasen, sen följde de första mänskliga varelserna som hade blivit givna möjligheten att inkarnera och lära sig förkroppsligandet på jorden genom läxorna av medskapande för att utvecklas till mogna Gud varelser. Detta skulle ske i tids och rums kontinuiteten i jordens fysiska region genom successiva reinkarnationer. Hand i hand kom de följande Herren Mikael och hans Maner i långa rader nedstigandes genom portaler från rymdskeppen så att kvoten fylldes för det första experimentet av fysiskt liv på jorden enligt den bestämda planen av Fader Moder Gud. De heliga ljusbärarna åtföljdes av myriader av skyddsänglar, samt serafimerna och deras beskyddande aura och ljuset av de kerubiska härerna som bar inom sig essensen av den himmelska atmosfären. På detta sätt steg söner och döttrar av Gud in i den första gyllene guldåldern med kvalitéer som skönhet härlighet och visdom kunde erfaras obegränsat av alla.Genom alla de efterföljande cyklerna av tid även i de djupaste och mörkaste stunderna har Ärkeängeln Mikael fullföljt sitt heliga löfte och förblivit den vakande över Herren över de änglalika körerna, mänskligheten och elementar rikena på jorden. Även om jordens uppstigning i ljuset har blivit försenad i eoner av tid orsakade av mänsklighetens tragiska fall så har Ärkeängeln Mikael heligt och dyrt lovat att han inte ska fälla samman sina kosmiska vingar och återvända till alla själars hem förrän den sista änglalika varelsen är befriad och den sista människan återvunnen och befriad och den sista elementaren frigjords till sin ursprungsform. Det osjälviska tjänandet av den Herkulianske Ärkeängeln är bortom vår fattningsförmåga och hans kärlek för oss är utan begränsning. Den Gudomliga kärleken av moder Gud - Heliga Ande är den jungfruliga kyska vestalen inom oss som har legat omedveten och slumrande så att vi skulle kunna vända vårt missbruk av kraft och överlämna oss till Guds vilja och på så sätt restaurera oss till den Gudomliga kraften av vår Fader, GUD ”brudgummen”. Nu i en ärorik strålande sermoni av ljus har överlämnandet uppnåtts med Gudomlig seger. Allt är redo för den Gudomliga giftemålssermonin. Efter det att jorden badades i den utsökta balansen av Fader Moder Gud, på höstdagjämningen 1994 ljusarbetare samlades värden runt samlades inom kraftfältet av Ärkeängeln Mikael som pulserar i de eteriska regionerna över de vackra klippiga bergen som omfattar det utbredda området av Banf i Canada . Från vår ”Feminina Jag Är Närvaro” sköt en rosa stråle av Gudomlig kärlek ut från hjärtchakrat till mittpunkten ovanför Louise sjön. När dessa två strålar av skimrande ljus möttes en explosion av skapelse så formades i mänsklighetens kollektiva hjärtflamma en permanent tolvblombladig solatom, formad av den kollektiva Gudomliga ”Jag Är ” av all mänsklighet, skapad som en ljusfyr genom hela universum, signalerade till kosmos att planeten jorden var redo för det långa efterlängtade giftermålet av det Gudomligt MASKULINA och det Gudomligt FEMININA inom varje del av livet. Ärkeängeln Mikael och hans heliga maka (benämnd Faith som betyder tilltro) tog sina strategiska platser i atmosfären ovanför den tolvblombladiga<span style=""> </span>solhjärtflamman av mänskligheten. Officiellt uppsteg de in i en högre förenad ordning av enhetlig Gudomlig tjänst som den kosmiska Ängeln av den nya gryende tidsåldern. Älskvärda planetlogosen Sanat Kumara och hans tvillingflamma Lady Venus intog sina strategiska positioner högt i atmosfären ovanför den kosmiska ängeln. Dessa ärorika utväcklare av Gudomlig kärlek magnetiserar från själva hjärtat av Gud, ett Gudomligt ljus som formade ett oerhört rosaskimrande hjärta runt den kollektiva solhjärtflamman av mänskligheten. Därefter nedsteg från vårt solsystem solguden och solgudinnan Helios och Vesta in i atmosfären av jorden och formade ett underbart V ovanför det pulserande hjärtat av helig kärlek -solgudarna formade den maskulina polariteten av V-et till vänster börjande med den älskvärde Helios sedan Alfa sedan Elohali. Solgudinnorna formade den feminina polariteten på höger sida begynnande med den älskvärda Vesta sedan Omega sedan Eloha. De skapade seda alla strålar av heligt ljus in i den tolvblombladiga solhjärtflamman av mänskligheten och inom hjärtflamman den individuella formen av mänsklighetens maskulina och feminina ”Jag Är Närvaro” började då formas och manifesteras. Dessa två strålande varelser av ljus var underbara att skåda. Trumpetsignal sången av den kollektiva mäktiga ”Jag Är Närvaron” av mänskligheten återkastades ut i universum, inbjudande assisterandet av hela det samlade sällskapet av väsen och varelser i rymden att komma in och deltaga i en aldrig tidigare erfaren fest och sermoni som tog plats på jorden. Svaret kom från galaxer bortom galaxer<span style=""> </span>och solar bortom solar. Kronor troner kosmiska väsen galaktiska varelser solväsen alla ordnar av änglar och uppstigna mästare alla de viktigaste och förnämsta föreståndare från himlen kom i projicerat medvetande för att deltaga i firandet av mänsklighetens och moderhjords heliga initiering. Nu efter eoner av separation var allting klart för den heliga invigningen och giftermålet. Det första steget var den heliga dansen av rening genom förlåtelse och obegränsat transformation och förvandling. Två varelser av ljus som representerar det kollektiva maskulina och feminina ”Jag Är Närvaron” av hela mänskligheten stod vända mot varandra i den tolvblombladiga solflamman i centrum av hjärtat som pulserade ovanför Louise sjön. När invigningen började sökte sig ljuset av den maskulina och feminina ”Jag Är Närvaron” in i varandra genom den tolvblombladiga solhjärtflamman som började sammansmälta i solryggraden genom en helig dans av ljus. Detta startade i ryggradsslutetet en ljusuppstigning som formade en figur av åttans form som ibland identifieras som en evighetssymbol mellan det kvinnliga och manliga Rotchakrat. Den maskulina ”Jag Är Närvaron” placerade sedan sin högra hand bakom hennes nacke och projicerade den feminina strålen av Gudomlig kärlek och balans genom sin hand förenande hennes hjärtchakra av helig kärlek med hans, på så sätt återupprättade han återigen balansen av den feminina strålen av helig kärlek inom mänskligheten. Hon placerade sen vänster hands handflata mot hans vänstra handflata, och i en kärleksfylld omfamning började de magnetisera från själva centrum av skapelsen den mest intensiva frekvensen av den blå strålens intensiva kraft och den rosa strålen av Gudomlig kärlek som den kosmiska lagen kunde tillåta. Detta heliga ljus fyllde deras väsen och i en helig dans av rening höll de varandra i sina armar när de två äkta ”Jag Är Närvar” började spinna. Den blå strålen av Gudomlig kraft sammansmält i en perfekt balans med den rosa strålen av Gudomlig kärlek skapande magnifika vågor av violett eld. Den omvandlade negativiteten - orsak, ursprung, effekt, register och minnen. Written by the sages of yore, the hoary predictive art called Nadi Shastra is said to hold the key to future generations.<br />You meet a stranger. He tells you your name, age, profession, name of your parents and spouse, number of children, tales of past life exploits and your future prospects. All this from ancient palm leaf manuscripts, written at least 2,000 years ago. Truly disconcerting! And this is not fiction. Such experiences are commonplace with experts in possession of these leaves spreading out all over the country and abroad.<br />In Tamil, nadi means "in search of". Says Durai Subburathnam of Sri Kousiha Agasthya Mahasiva Vakkiya Nadi Jothida Nilayam, Chennai: "The person whose palm leaf record exists with us will definitely approach us at a predestined time specified on the leaves."<br />The process is simple. To locate a manuscript, the thumb impression of the person is taken on paper, left for women and right for men. But opinions differ. While Subburathnam claims that these are classified into 1,008 types, Delhi based nadi reader B Raju says that there are only 108 types. The palm leaves are also arranged accordingly. Finding your leaf is not as easy as giving your thumb impression. It is a painstaking job to match the two, sometimes it takes several hours. Says Raju: "If we are unable to locate the leaf, we ask the client to come again after a few days as we have to get it from our native place. Or we refer to Sukshma nadi, which gives brief predictions." These leaves also give you the planetary positions in the person’s horoscope. "This is the confirmation stamp," says Raju.<br />"The past life details and future predictions were written by the great sages centuries ago. Due to divine insight they could look into and write the details of all who would one day go for a nadi reading," explains Subburathnam. The leaves once located are "sung" by the readers in ancient Tamil verse, which is simultaneously translated into the language of the client’s choice. And in today’s hi-tech world, you can even get future recordings on audiocassettes. "Pleasant or unpleasant, we do not add any prediction on our own. We only read whatever is written on the leaf. You can also read your name, if you know the language," says Subburathnam. The process of becoming a nadi reader is rigorous. "The apprentice, usually a family member, has to live in a gurukul for 10 years."<br />There are different theories on how predictions are made. Late Dr B V Raman, former editor of The Astrological Magazine, had done major research on the nadi. He believed that this system was special and original to Indian culture and genius. Till the 1930s, nadis were a sealed book even to the majority of Hindu astrologers. Raman felt that nadi writers based their predictive applications on the extensive astrological literature. Attributed to Sage Parasara, all were in the form of Sanskrit sutras.<br />The best system, according to Raman, is based on 36 tantra nadis, each of which contains 1,588.320 astrological charts. These recur every 360 years. Another theory is that kshudra devatas (angels, spirit beings) pass on the information about the individual to the nadi reader. "The accuracy of the forecasts depends on the intensity of the rituals performed and recitation of the mantra to propitiate the devata," wrote Raman in Hinduism Today.<br />Thousands of such palm leaves are spread all over the country. Known as Nadi Grantha in the South and Bhrigu Samhita in the North. These were written by the seven rishis - Agasthya, Kausika, Vyasa, Bohar, Bhrigu, Vasishtha and Valmiki. Explains Subburathnam: "The leaves carry predictions for all, irrespective of cast, creed, country. Agasthya predictions are in Tamil."<br />However, the leaves held by the present day nadi readers in the South belonged to King Sarabhoj, the Maratha ruler of Tanjavur. The leaves started disintegrating with age. Scholars were employed to interpret the ancient Tamil and Sanskrit script and rewrite on fresh ola (palm leaves). These were written in vatta ezathu, Tamil script, with a sharp, nail-like instrument called ezuthani. Nadi readers preserve these leaves by rubbing peacock oil on auspicious occasions. Some of the original leaves are still preserved at Saraswathi Nilayam in Tanjavur.<br />Later, when the British left India, they took with them priceless manuscripts pertaining to science, ayurveda and astronomy. Astrological manuscripts were left behind which were later auctioned. A community of astrologers ("valluvars") from Vaitheeswaran Koil in Tanjavur bought them and made nadi reading a hereditary profession. In fact, B Raju a nadi reader who hails from this place and has set up the Sri Kausika Mahasiva Nadi Jothida Nilayam in Delhi, says: "Nadi readers from our native place have set up centres all over the country." However, each centre works independently.<br />But how are predictions made? In his book Nadi Astrology, Chandulal S Patel says: "Nadis are of different types. Some Nadis give entire life histories of persons based on astrological reasoning. In such cases past and future events go wrong to a small extent. Nadi-practitioners are genuine astrologers.<br />"Another type of Nadi-practitioners is said to have acquired control over kshudra (mean or low) sadhana mantra. They often use clairvoyant powers to make horoscopes from the palm of the hand and in many cases discarnate being like nature spirits are engaged to get information. This sadhana, Karna Pishachi, tells the practitioner in his ear all the past which he reproduces to the client. It is all correct but fails miserably about future predictions."<br />Both Subburathnam and Raju disagree. "Our predictions are 100 per cent accurate. Many of our satisfied clients bring their friends and relatives for predictions. There is no question of tantra or mantra. We read whatever is written there and if the leaf is not found we say so," says Subburathnam. "We do not charge until the client is fully satisfied," adds Raju.<br />Skeptics argue that the astrologer asks several questions and then puts two and two together. Subburathnam denies the charge. "We do ask a few questions to help us locate the right leaf, but the client has to only answer in monosyllables "yes" or "no". He doesn’t deny that fake readers have spread their tentacles all over the country in order to make money.<br />In Hoshiarpur, where the Bhrigu Samhita practitioners are concentrated, the reader casts a chart for the moment you come for a consultation and then proceeds to find the corresponding leaf which may take hours.<br />There are thirteen chapters or Kandams in nadi shastra, each dealing with a specific area of a client’s life. A client can choose the chapter she wants to be read. Initial consultation costs are Rs 150 for local people. For outstation clients the fees are a little more as translation charges are added. Each additional chapter costs Rs 150. Raju’s consultation fee is Rs 500.<br />Subburathnam employs many nadi readers, writers who note down the predictions for the benefit of clients and translators (English, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam). Predictions are given for every two-year period and guidance offered on pariharams (remedial measures). Many consider the pariharams as a moneymaking gimmick. Subburathnam disagrees. "We read the pariharams only if asked. Moreover, most of the measures are simple like visiting temples, feeding the poor or giving alms to the nadi reader and wearing talismans. But these are optional."<br />Whatever may be the truth the long queues at the nadi readers’ offices test your patience. So if you are interested in a reading better make an appointment. Such palm leaves were thus auctioned from the British by the forefathers of Sri: Agasthiyar Durai Subburathnam, and C Balakrishnan who were residing in Vaitheshwaran temple and in adjacent places of the very temple as a group and involved dedicatedly since the hundred years in the same field. Henceforth, such leaves were passed on to their generations, respectively. Raja Mrigendra Singh's voice carried a note of suppressed excitement.It was in that eternally fascinating country, India, in the town of Patiala, Punjab. The date was November 29, 1959. My questioner, a local prince, had come to visit me at my temporary residence on Press Road. Tall, of striking features, smartly turbaned after the custom of the Sikhs, his eyes expressive of a character in which strength and kindness were pleasingly blended: I had felt instantly attracted to this man from the moment I had first seen him."Bhrigu?" I echoed my friend's query somewhat uncertainly."Bhrigu was a noted rishi (sage) in ancient India", my guest explained.Now I remembered. This venerable name appears often in Puranic Scriptures. It is also mentioned in the ancient Bhagavad Gita, the "Hindu Bible".My guest continued: "Bhrigu wrote a book. It is thousands of years old. It contains prophecies about the lives of millions of people, many of whom are living today".I lowered my gaze in sudden embarrassement. How simply preposterous! Even if such a book could be written, how much would it manage to say about "millions of people"?I cast about for some ground on which to take my friend's comment with suitable seriousness. Then I recalled the prophecies of Nostradamus.Nostradamus was a seer in medieval France. He wrote in terse quatrains predictions that supposedly covered world events for centuries to come. Everyone seems to agree that these forecasts were remarkable. They were so cryptic, however, that there is little unanimity of opinion on what they actually mean.Assuming Bhrigu's prophetic book to be genuine - so I concluded - his predictions might be along the same order as those of the French seer: Short sentences that could be applied to any number of people by one with enough faith or imagination, or both, to make them fit. "How long are these prophecies?" I inquired. "A line or two?"My friend smiled sympathetically at my skepticism. "Most of them fill one or two pages. They are so detailed that there isn't the least doubting that the information given for a person actually refers to him, and to no one else"."I found myself mentioned in the book," said the raja. "I actually found my own name written there. (And you know, Mrigendra is an unusual name.) My wife's and my father's names also appeared in my reading. My birthplace was given correctly."The raja went on to tell of a number of other cases where people had found their own lives described in this book. Even these references, he said, were anything but vague.He told me about a prominent lady of Patiala, Mrs. Gurdial Singh of Tehsil Road, who had gone to Bhrigu for a reading. Accompanying her was her brother. Any stranger seeing the couple would naturally have assumed them to be man and wife. They said nothing to the pandit in charge of the book concerning their actual relationship. Yet in her reading it was stated that she had come with her brother. (This was later corroborated by Mrs. Singh personally to the narrator of this story)."But," I expostulated, "how can millions of lives be described in such detail in a single book"."Oh, it isn't a bound volume like those of our present age. The books in ancient India consisted of loose leaves tied together into bundles. This 'book' of Bhrigu's is made up of many such bundles. It requires whole rooms to house it. There are several portions of it in various parts of the country. It is known as the Bhrigu Samhita"."Of course," he added, "not all these portions are equally reliable. There are persons, in fact, who only pretend to have possession of Bhrigu's book, but who read from something quite different.""I can imagine!" In my mind's eye I could picture the scores of penurious fortunetellers I had seen in the streets of India's crowded cities. What an edge it would give them over their competitors if they could claim exclusive possession of part of so marvellous an ancient document as this!"These fake custodians of the Bhrigu Samhita daren't, of course, let you examine their pages," my friend continued. "They will put you off with some pretext or other - perhaps that the readings are too sacted to be passed about, or that they are written in a style which only those with special training can decipher. Of course, frauds will tell you nothing that they couldn't have found out about you during the course of your conversation with them. Beyond that, they will be studiedly vague.""But if there are frauds," I suggested, "some of them will doubtless be beter at this 'art' than others. So how can one be perfectly sure of any of them?""The final proof, of course, rests in the results. I've searched far and wide for genuine samhitas. I'm satisfied that I've found at least one, and possibly two or three.""In this one particularly, there are none of the disadvantages one so commonly encounters. The pandit allows you to examine your page carefully. He has even permitted me to take mine home and get a photostatic copy made of it (though this is a privilege he seldom grants anyone). A convincing factor, also, is the time it takes him to locate a page. He rarely has any way of knowing in advance who will be coming to him. Yet, unlike other readers I have met, he finds one's reading on the spot. There is no opportunity for him to write it out after having come to know you. And I am impressed by the fact that his fee is low. He cannot be using the book to become rich""Finally, of course, many of his predictions have come true.""Where is this portion that you say you've found?" I inquired. "It is in a small town called Barnala, only sixty miles from here. Would you like to go there?"The raja seemed quite in earnest. But could such a exotic manuscript possibly be authentic? I struggled to apply my friend's strange story to what I knew of India's spiritual teachings.The Hindu scriptures, I recalled, state that time is a mental concept. In their view, life may be compared to a book, the events of which we are conscious only as we pass from page to page. The pages are turned for us. Could we ourselves hold the book, we would be able to look ahead and read what is written in later chapters. Essentially, there is no past, present, and future. These all exist simultaneously. But for practical purposes we may say that the present is where the book is presently opened.A natural question arises: What about free will? If the future is already determined for us, doesn't this make us all just puppets in the hands of fate? Not so, say the ancient teachings. For it is man himself who determines how his role shall read. The operative principle is the law of cause and effect, known in India as the law of Karma.Even in creations by human artists whimsical fate is ruled out. Any truly competent author lets his characters work out their own destinies. He may see clearly before he ever writes the first page of a novel, all that must occur to them as the story unfolds. But his book always in a sense "writes itself." He will not force his creations to act "out of character" to suit the predilections of his own nature. Nor will he impose on his characters destinies that they haven't themselves in some way invited.If God did not know the entire future of His universe and of all its creatures, He would not be omniscient. Foreknowledge need not contradict the doctrine of free will. The human race deteremines its future by what it is, not by what some Higher Being decrees it shall be.Countless persons have had uncanny feelings - and other, vivid dreams - that something unexpected was going to happen. And it did actually come to pass. Great prophets may be considered simply to have perfected this natural power, infrequently expressed in the lives of ordinary men. In other words, sages have attuned themselves more exactly to the omniscience of God.I began to wonder seriously, as I struggled through this philosophical hinterland, whether Bhrigu could not, just possibly, have written such an improbable book as this Samhita. If he had, I thought, what impressive support it would give to the claim of modern Hindus that their ancient wisdom was as realistic, in its own way, as out Twentieth Century sciences! The matter seemed well worth the small effort of investigation."How can I get to Barnala?" I asked my friend."I am going there tomorrow morning," he replied. Very few are reproved by Bhrigu for their weaknesses, moral or otherwise. Bhrigu was a man of God. Like all saints, he preferred encouraging people in their virtues to condemning them for their faults."<br />The highway to Barnala, though paved, was so uneven it made conversation difficult. The country on both sides of us was mostly flat and uninteresting. Broad, semi-arid fields made way occasionally, as if grudgingly, for tiny, poor villages that clung piteously to the roadside. The people living here seemed to eke out only a bare subsistence from the soil.I thought sadly of the need of Indian villages for Western technical skills.And then I found myself meditating on the peace reflected in the faces of so many of the villagers. Have not they, too, something tangible and worthwhile to offer to us in the West? Can we, for all our material glory, honestly say that we have found fulfillment - lacking, as most of us do, contentment and a peaceful heart?The harsh, dry countryside around us, seemingly resentful of man's intrusion, finally surrendered to the swaggering conquest of the little, bustling town of Barnala. We bounced through narrow streets until we reached Gaushala Road.Here, in a typical Indian home of modest proportions, lives Pandidt Bhagat Ram, custodian of the Bhrigu Samhita.""It is a sort of advertisement, telling people that in the Bhrigu Samhita they will find information relating to three incarnations: past, present, and future."A strange place to advertise, I thought - inside the house! But apparently the Samhita requires no publicity. Already the room was beginning to fill up with people anxious to secure readings for themselves. They squatted quietly in hopeful expectation, like patients in a doctor's parlor.It would be digressing from our story here to enter into a serious discussion of transmigration of souls. The point may be conssidered, however, that if the Bhrigu Samhita is proved to be genuine it will add considerable weight to the case for this doctrine."Speaking of reincarnation," Raha Mrigendra remarked, "there was a woman in here when I first came who was told by Bhrigu that in her last life she lived in Patal-Desh, (ancient Sanskrit writing meaning "the country on the under, or opposite, side of the world" - the Americas)in the town of 'Wash-ing-ton.' In Sanskrit characters this ancient reading actually spelled out the sounds of the name!"There were by my side a few loose pages of the Bhrigu Samhita. I examined them. He welcomed Raja Mrigendra first, with a trace of deference in his manner for his visitor's rank. Next he was introduced to me.The pandit's face and bearing impressed me favorably. I was sorry to find that he spoke no English. Others had to translate our conversation, which took time and probably left many thoughts uncommunicated. Nevertheless, we were able to converse together with a fair degree of fluency.""Taking the page, the pandit began to read. Raja Mrigendra translated for me. This is what I heard:"AUM. Sri Shukra (the son of Bhrigu) said: 'In the dark half of the month of Margshirsh, on a Monday of the Amavasya, at eight ghatis and thirty palls, (by our reckoning it was November 30, 1959, at about 10.30 a.m.) what is this combination of planets called, and what is the reading of the person who asks a question at this time? What was his last incarnation, and what thoughts has he in his mind on this occasion?""Sri Bhrigu answered: 'O Shukra, this planetary combination is known as "Guruka Yoga". According to it the person concerned was born in his last life in the western part of Bharat (India), in a town the name of which begins with the letter K. This city is now ruled by the Yavans, (in ancient times this referred to Karachi, the capital of Pakistan), and is the capital of their country."This jiva (individual soul) was born into the arrura branch of the Kshatriya caste. His family was well-to-do. His name was Pujar Das. He was an astik (one having faith in the Vedas) and a religious person..."After passing years (in that place), he and his wife went together on a pilgrimage. Ultimately their travels took them to the desert, where they visited the ashram (hermitage) of the sage Kapila ..... Here this person remained for many years".The story took Pujar Das to the time of his death. I have given only such excerpts as may perhaps be of interest to others, particularly from the standpoint of glimpsing the style of which the Bhrigu Samhita was written.The account then continued: "In this life, after much traveling, he has arrived in my presence, having been coaxed to come here by one of my devotees, a member of a royal family".I swallowed hard. This part, at least, applied: the extensive travelling; the fact of my having come only after being coaxed; Mrigendra's rank."This person's name," the pandit continued, "is Kriyananda".Stunned, I took the card and passed it to several persons in the room who had come in hope of finding readings for themselves, and who said they were familiar with Sanskrit characters. They all confirmed that it did in fact say Kriyananda. This name is, so far as I know, unique.The pandit took the page again and continued reading. The account defined correctly the type of spiritual discipline I follow; it mentioned that I had been lecturing in foreign countries; it gave various facts of a personal nature, and made certain predictions. At least as far as the known facts of this life went, the reading was correct.<br />Bhrigu also answered specifically the questions I had put to him mentally.As regards my supposed last incarnation, I have at least the following facts to ponder: In this life I never glimpsed a desert until I grew up. Yet the first desert I ever knew, at the age of twenty-two, seemed strangely familiar to me; more than once I mentioned to others that I felt more at home there than anywhere else on earth. Why this sudden love for bare sand and tumbleweed? I had been accustomed to rich greenery, flower gardens, and mountain slopes. Again, the Hindu scriptures exercised an immediate and unusual appeal for me the day when, as a young man, I first read a few excerpts from them in a book called The Short World Bible. My religious upbringing had been orthodox: Episcopalian, mostly. I can think of no influence in this life that would explain either of these spontaneous interests. Doesn't Bhrigu's account offer an intriguing answer?(It might be of interest here to add that I obtained another reading a few months later, from another portion of the Bhrigu Samhita. In this one a much earlier incarnation was described - because, Bhrigu explained, he had already told me ("in my Yoga Valli") about my last life. My place of birth in this life was correctly given, though misspelled: Rumania was written, "Rumanake". The reading stated that my father named me "James" - my actual first name at baptism. The reading said that I have lived in America. It gave my monastic name, Kriyananda. A fact was brought out about my family that I myself did not know, but that I was able to verify some months later after my return to America.
